closeenough

Joshua "Josh" Alden Singleton is the main protagonist of Close Enough. He is voiced by J.G. Quintel, the creator of the series.

Biography

"Josh is a husband, father, and future world-famous video-game designer. Although with games like “Ladder World” and “Clap Like This,” that won’t be happening anytime soon. His soul-deadening day job is at the TV-installation company Plugger-Inners, but with his golden retriever-like attitude, he still remains eager and optimistic. [1]

Physical appearance

Josh is a 5'11 human man around 32 years old [2]. He has straight brown hair that reaches his shoulders and a pale ivory skin tone. He wears a maroon hoodie with its sleeves rolled up, a light red t-shirt, blue jeans, and white slip-on shoes. When Josh is working at Plugger-Inners, he wears a white uniform polo shirt, an orange name tag, black pants, and a brown belt with a bronze-colored frame buckle. Occasionally, he wears his hoodie over his uniform shirt.

In his early 20s, Josh styled his hair in short dreadlocks, and wore a pink coat, a gray tank top, gray pants, white sneakers, and an earring. As a teenager his hair was worn similar to how it is currently. Three years prior to the start of the series for a shirt period he wore his bangs back in a bun.

For formal wear he has commonly worn a button down periwinkle shirt, grey or black pants, and black or brown shoes.

Personality

Josh is optimistic, kind, childish, carefree, easygoing, and creative. His foolishness tends to get him in trouble sometimes. However, when push comes to shove, he'll become smart and responsible when doing the right thing. While he does show signs of irresponsibility, he does keep his daughter's best interest at heart and does deeply care about her.

Emily Ramirez

Emily is Josh's wife.

The two met in their early twenties sometime in September-October 2007[3] and have been happily married for seven years [4]. After his presentation for his video game DudeMan at Golden Gamer Expo was a disaster, Josh went to a nearby bar and sat depressed at a table alone. There, he first met Emily, as she approached his table with two glasses of beer, offering to sit with him. They went on their first date at ScaresVille, a haunted house attraction. They dated throughout the rest of their college years and got married sometime in their mid 20s. They were not able to afford a honeymoon, instead spending the evening after their ceremony watching the sunset on a hill next to The Getty Center with a view of the traffic of the 405. Starting then they started saving all their spare change in a large bear shaped container, with the plan to take their honeymoon once it’s full. Their five year old daughter Candice was born two years into their marriage.

Josh loves Emily dearly, and the two are happily married despite the obstacles they encounter.

Candice

Josh is a loving and devoted dad to Candice. He cares for her greatly and loves to play with her, though he can be irresponsible at times.

His father

Josh and his father seem to have a strained relationship. While Josh was growing up, his father was indifferent to his interests, and apparently did not reciprocate when his son tried to bond with him.
